???s on a 520 conversion
It is common sense that to gain acceleration you loose top speed. but what is everybodys opinion on the 520 vortex chain and sprocket kit all for $150.(they say this kit takes .5 off your time)I never had this before on any of my bikes are they worth the money, nicer for poppin wheelies and coming out of turns quicker????

the chain is lighter...that's it...you don't lose any top speed, etc. with 520 conversion. it's changing sprockets that makes you lose top end.
as far as doing just the 520 only for the streets...i wouldn't recommend it...you won't notice the difference...but when racing...you do it cause very little bit counts.
i don't buy any chain that's not DID...

You're confusing two topics.
A 520 conversion simply means you go from your stock pitch size (525) to 520-pitched sprockets and chain. This conversion alone won't gain you any acceleration, except in the weight savings and less rotational mass, which will be minimal and barely noticeable.
What other often do with a 520 conversion is to change their gearing (# of teeth in the sprockets). Depending on how you do this, you can change how your bike accelerates and the top end that can be achieved. Going to lower gear ratios will increase accel and lower top end.

RE: ???s on a 520 conversion
if you want more excelleration and less topspeed then go up teeth on the rear sprocket and or down on the front sprocket. down 1 in the front is = to up 3 in the rear. i am +7 in the rear and stock in the front but i ride mostly lots, my top speed now is about 140 i think (speedo gets way off w/ sprocket changes). a nice change for the street would be+2 in the rearand -1in the front. If youdecide togo w/ a 520 chaintoo then make sure you get anew front sprocket even if you only change teeth in the rear. you have to getwhat isknow as a counter sprocket (stock teeth with 520 pitch).
