Default 520 Conversion? yes or no

Say you have a 600 bike and it needs new sprockets and chain. Do you switch to a 520? (maybe this will help me deside)

I'm not sure what a 520 conversion would be like. I'm 1 down in the front and I'd like to go bigger in the back but I would be miserable on the freeway because I'm already at a high rpm just doing 10 mph over, I can't imagine making it worse.

Is has nothing to do with the gearing is it just a smaller chain (which means less weight and more power)

520 is just a lighter chain.

if you've got to change the chain and sprockets anyway there really isn't a reason to not change to 520

Well i am sure they put a 525 chain on there for a reason. Why would they spend the extra money on a bigger chain when it doesn't need it?

Well you obviously can't go wrong with stock, those guys know what they are doing so unless you want the front end up easier.

Yah I feel dumb considering I just went through this a couple days ago.

Anyways, stick with stock. If you wan't to shave a pound off just go to the bathroom before you ride.

520 chains are great. less spun weight, you will notice faster pickup, these chains are rated at something like 9000 lbs test so I don't think your going to break them with a 600cc bike. helps you slow down before corners.

the ONLY benefit a 525 chain has over a 520 is strength and your NOT going to break a 520 chain with a 600
the factory AMA teams use 520 chains on their 600s that make 140+ HP so your 100-105 HP bike isn't gonna break it
