520 conversion
well i've been think about sprockets and i decided im gunna do a 520 conversion. i was wondering if anyone had any input on the brand and model they have..if it good bad and if u have aluminum sprockets. i have been told the the aluminum will waer very fast..so if i dont wanna replace it should i go with steel? and could u tell if it was any less noisy than the regular chain. i call vortex racing tech support and he said about 250 for a racing chain and -1, +2. i for get which chain he said tho..im gunna search again.

RE: 520 conversion
why the 520 conversion? The only benifit it offers is lower rotating mass and in most cases will only be recognizable by seasoned racers on track. the 525 chain will ware longer and the price difference is negligible. if you want longevity, get steel. if weight is a factor (and why shouldn't it be?) consider a Bi-metal sproket such as the >>Stealth<<. besides looking absolutly trick, it super light. it does come in a 520 conversion if you MUST have 520 but honestly i'd just 525 it.

RE: 520 conversion
Personally, I found that their are alot more options with a 520 conversion when you are changing gears then with the stock 525 chain. Most places I contacted didn't carry a front 525 sprocket that was down a tooth. Overall, I also got a better deal with the 520 and it ended up costing less then a 525. Not sure that it really gonna make a difference performance wise, but it can't hurt. I did stick with steel sprockets however, since aluminum will wear out quicker. We are involved in an expensive sport, and if I have to change my chain every 10k miles, I can deal with it. Besides thats more time I get to spend working on my bike on those rainy days.
