there is a rattling noise around the head area. people tell me its the cam chain tensionor but i took it to the dealer when i got it and they took it apart and they said it was still good. but others have told me that they may look good when they are out and your looking at them but when they are under tension they are bad and make a rattling noise. and i was told that hondas are known for them going bad. so i was wondering if anyone has had or has that problem. let me know if you have any advise. thanx

 

yes, very well known problem with F4i. there is no way to tell if it's good or bad just by taking it out and looking at it.
just change it out when you get the chance. it's still putting tension on the cam chain. people tend to think that the rattling is the cam chain being too lose. ive found otherwise...that's its various components of the cctl wearing out.

 

yah i planned on just changing it. how hard is it to replace?

 

not too hard to replace...just tedious. shop will charge you tons so don't take it to them.

I have an 06 and have been told both stories from dealers. Just curious what you or anyone else with the 06 model.

I talked to a friend that used to work at the deal, and he told me that for the late models F4iHondafixed this problem. Although he did not specify a year. I'm still sceptical because it was a problem for so many years! Just my $0.02

 

PROBLEM IS STILL THERE !!!

Mine is 2006 with 3.000 miles and has the cct noise between 3.000 and 3.000 RPM and also about 5.000 - 5500 RPM.
I hate it !
