i'm 5'9" 190. i just try to sit as close to the tank as i can without smashing the boys. other than that, i just try to keep as my muscles as relaxed as possible and just kinda let the bike kinda float underneath me. learned that from motocross. ialways ridewith the ***** of my feet on the pegs also.

It really is all in your own body and mind. Exercise helps, if you're in shape it helps you deal with it, plus your clothing choices can make you more comfortable.

I didan Iron Butt ride in 2005. I ran everyday for 3 months prior to it, wore bicycle shorts under my jeans and riding pants. We did 1121 miles in 21 hours, and while I was tired when I was done, I could have slept and did it again a day later. This on a VFR with a stock seat.

That is the kind of riding I want to do on occasion. Do you do many trips like that? I love my bike for the short 1-2 hr rides and trips I make in town, but every now and than I'd like to know I could take trips like that. Do you think the F4i gets a little buzzy at a cruising Freeway speed between 70-85 mph?

1121in 21hrs is a pretty dang respectable amount!

Most I've done was 980something in roughly 24hrs. I'm not out for super high mileage in a short time with this trip, but I'll be doing about 500mi one way with 90% of the route being twisties. Should take about 12hrs give or take, including lunch and gas stops. I'll be turning around and doing the return trip after one day at the destination, I'll be doing this ride this Friday and will post up some sort of trip log and photos and such.

Here's the ride.

My longest trip so far with the factory seat is about 2.5 hours each way with 2 hours riding on/off during the trip (7 hours total). At that point I was in serious pain. Normally an hour into it and I'm getting sore. Just bought a Corbin seat and have yet to use it due to weather here in Indy. I hope the seat makes a big difference (was told it would) and hope to make a trip to Deal's Gap this summer.

to get back to the original question:

1- corbin or sargent seat.
2- heli riser bars
3- exercise
4- proper riding position
5- stretch before riding, as much as possible during the ride

i myself am going to get a nice seat and riser bars soon as i use my f4i mainly for commute. hope this helps.
