I have Icon Super Duty 2 boots. About the same height as Chukka boots. They're pretty comfortable and the only real issue I've had with them is they're a bit stiff when you first start wearing them. I wear them on and off the bike. They have worn pretty well. As for sizing I wear a 12 normally, but probably could've gone with an 11 1/2. As for police boots, I am a cop and where them everyday. Though they are comfortable I'd be worried to use them for riding because of how far the laces go down to the toe. Police style boots are better made for Police work.

 

i have the smx-2 boots. they are great for me. they stood up to a 40 mph crash and i know kept my foot and ankle in one piece. they dont look bad either. i'm six feet five inches and they make me an inch taller with thier little heel i dont need it but maybe that will be a plus. had them for 5 months and 4500 miles. add some gel sole inserts and you'll be gellin.

people seem to like them as well i get compliments all the time. but i dont care for that they protect my feet.

 

I bought a pair of boots similar to the ICON Accelerator model. Found them on e-bay.

They are definitely a compromise. They're ok for walking, not great. They're not as protective as a track tech boot, but it's not practical for me to commute in a tech boot.

Either way, they're better than sneakers.

I have the Tecknik riding boots that are kind of like Timberlands. They are real comfortable and I can wear them all day just like regular shoes....heres some picts....

And BTW....I got these brand new off eBay for 32 bucks shipped.......they are my 2nd pair....I liked the first pair so much when I wore them out (from skitching and stuff) I went and got the exact same ones!

Totally Agree......during my only lay down, I was wearing regular work boots (not tied to tight). they got ripped off and I suffered major road rash on my left foot. Ever since then you wont catch me riding without REAL riding boots tied tight and strapped up! It pays off in the end!!!!

 

I bought some of the Nitro boots and I like them (they are cheap too!).

I am definitely going to stay away from any riding shoes or anything that does not fully cover my ankle or barely cover my achilles tendon. I really like the S-MX2 boots and am hoping that the achilles tendon part isn`t too low to take away from protection.

I also like the Firstgear express boots as they cover my ankle and achilles tendon, but they don`t look too sturdy. I am going to go to one or two stores that are not too far from my house and take a look at some boots in the next few weeks. I am just trying to buy some fresh new gear while it is really cold up hear and before the warmth come back so I can snag a deal or two (or three!!!) while this is the dormant season for motorcycle riding here in Philadelphia (yes...go Eagles).

Those Teknic boots, like the chukka boots do look like they would work, but my main concern is about the laces not being fully under-laces (under velcro or starps).

 

Well, after looking at another thread, I think I might have found my solution. Another poster recommend motocross low cut boots and many of them that I saw was at the right height and looked sturdy enough to be protective and comfortable.

I am going to shop around and still try some boots on before I buy so I won't be disappointed.
