Default Reserve Indicator

I did try and search before posting. I have a 2001 F4i. When I turn the key and the display does it's thing, you hear the injectors etc, the fuel reserve light DOES show up where it should, as it shows in the manual. However, it doesn't show up when i'm actually low on gas. I ran it till it died on me; no reserve light ever came on. I checked the manual and couldn't come up with much. I believe my fuel reserve sensor may be bad. I can usually calculate how much gas I have by how many miles i've driven and how fast. But that's getting a little old. Having it fixed would be supreme. If anyone knows anything about this, some input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

check for a kinked line first, mine "ran out of gas" because the vent line was almost completely closed on itself, it ran until it had about a gallon and a quarter, then the vent was too closed for the pressure of the fuel in the tank.

That actually sounds like it could be the problem, I'm gonna have to look into that asap. Thanks for the input.

Be sure to reset your odometer when you fill up and then head for a fuel station around 160 miles or so...

I set mine in addition to my reserve light for just this instance.
