Default Replacing my CCT

I bought an APE manual CCT and Gasket from
http://www.streetandcomp.com/store/i...&FromNav=False
I will be putting it on myself but I was wondering if there is anything I should know before doing so also the whole turning something to TDC #1 how do you know if you have to do that and how would I do that if I have to?
All answers appreciated thanks

Check out the sticky tittled "The CCTL Thread". There is a bunch of information in there.

i would say replacing the cct is pretty straightforward. take the old one out, and even tho the stopper tool is recommended, it is not needed since you're not going to be putting it back in. i've never installed the manual cct, but heard guys using blue lock tite on the threads to prevent the nut from loosening up. look it up to make sure.

i wouldnt worry too much about a stopper tool, however it is critical that you loosen the upper and lower bolts evenly or you could trash the threads.

the TDC thing isnt necessary. lock tite isn't either but it would help im sure.

use a 1/4" swivel, ext., + 5mm socket. although its possible w/ 3/8", its not worth the frustration...

i have pretty big hands to be working on these compact bikes.. i found the easiest way for me to get in there and have room was to lift tank using a ratchet strap and removing the radiator over flow bottle. of course the seat will have to be off.. then go in from the left side of the bike and it's right there.. doing it this way i was able to get both my hands in there to start the bolts without cross threading them... but i would say what ever works for you is the best way....i'm not a bike mechanic but if you are lazy i would say to go and buy the stock style tensioner... that way you wont have to adjust it when it needs to be done like the ape or other manual ones...just replace when it goes bad...
