yes rpm's/speed affect the charging system the stator pushes a charge somewhere between 3.5k ish rpm's and like 9.5k ish so between those rpm's the regulator is regulating the power into your battery or whatever it does outside of those rpm's from what i understand the bike runs on the battery's juice. Hence a fried r/r and the bike wont idle lower then 3.5krpm's both times mine fried on my f3 the starter would turn slower and slower untill it just wouldnt crank anymore at all

Yes its common. I know this is an old thread, but I was having issues on my '01 F4i that didn't add up to me at the time. Was riding one day with my high beams on and bike was hesitating when I wasn't full throttle. When I hit the brakes all electronics would dim a lot, had to blip the throttle to keep her running. I parked it for a couple hours and it wouldn't start when I was ready to leave. Had to push start it. Driving it home on low beam helped a little bit.
Stator was fine, battery tested fine. Found out the rectifier was a common part to out on these otherwise awesome bikes. So I just ordered this rectifier upgrade: Buy New Regulator/Rectifier Honda CBR600F4i (01-06) CBR600F4i (01-04) Seems to be a good replacement, Ill followup when it gets here and I get it installed.
