Default Rectifier Regulator Problem?

I think I blew out my rectifier, I'm not very motorcycle savvy so I'm not sure if it is my rectifier. could someone tell me what is supposed to happen when your rectifier blows out?

I was riding and thought I went into 2nd, so I pulled the throttle really hard, but I was actually in neutral. When I got home a lot of smoke started spewing out from under my seat. Does this have to do with a blown out rectifier?

okay well here's what happened. i got home and i see smoke coming out from under my seat, i take off the seat and the side fairing and smoke is spewing everywhere! tons and tons of smoke! i heard that when you're rectifier busts, your bike isn't suppose to work, but i was still able to turn it on and off. today thought i tried to turn it on and it won't work. like i said i'm not very good at these kinda things. could it be something else?

Probably blew your 30A fuse if the wire harness melted on the reg/rec. Could have had a bad short somewhere.

Your next step is to remove the RR. Check the wires to the stator for shorts since they were probably very hot too. Then check the RR output wires for the same damage. Check all your fuses. You will need to replace the connector that attaches to the RR if it melted. Are you handy with a soldering gun or a crimp tool?
You could probably get the connector from a salvage yard with a little extra wire on it . Then all you will need to do is match up colors, solder and tape them. A wiring diagram for your bike would be helpful in tracing wires.
Good luck.

Take your bike to a shop, you can't fix this yourself.
