Default Rear hugger question??

I am planning on purchasing a hot boddies undertail for my 02' F4i and was wondering if it recommended to put a rear hugger on to protect the undertail? If so, how do the color schemes work? My bike is red/black.. front fender is red.. the undertail will be red.. should I go with a red hugger?? Or, do people mix it up and go black?? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

I have a white undertail and it is impossible to get tar and grease off of it from the road. A hugger would probably help but I think they are kind of stupid and odd looking. If I was you I would get black, because red will stick out like a sore thumb. But that is just my opinion.

i don't see how a tire hugger actually does anything to protect your undertail. it doesn't cover the back of the back wheel... which is where your road trash comes from.

well that makes sense, i just don't get why ppl keep saying "get an hugger, otherwise your undertail will get trashed... i may get one so i don't have to take SOS pads to my shock and stuff, but to protect the undertail, i don't see how it could.

well, it would protect any part of the undertial up to where the hugger ends from flying debris kicked up from the tire. anything behind it...well...it's going to hit, unless you get one that covers the whole tire...some nasty custom action.

i had a rear hugger once...got rid of it because she would never let go even when i was trying to sit down...ahahhh..get it? get it? hahahha...

well i don't drive no chopper, so there will be NO full tire hugger/fender going on my F4i, i'd rather just refinish the undertail every year or so when it gets really trashed.

well in my opinion....i wouldn't get the full undertail due to the fact that the rear hugger won't protect it anyways...i rode through some water and it got all up there but didn't get the shock....that's y i stuck with my stock under tray and hack off the rear part for the CW eliminator...
