Default Rear Axle, tire change question

After changing the rear tire I noticed I have a slight gap between the rear wheel and the brake caliper mount bracket which slides onto the axle.

Is this correct or am I missing something? It seemed to ride correctly.

I can take a picture tomorrow if you don't understand what I'm talking about.

There are spacers that fit on both sides of the axles making it flush with the swing arm. There shouldn't be any room for free play. These easily fall off when pulling the axle, check your floor.

They weren't there. Does anyone have pics of them or know where I could get them?

Also what are they made from?

I believe they are just made from aluminum they are used to the wheel cannot slide around and also to seal the bearings.

Just bought a set off ebay used for $8. Yes I understand what they are for now. I took it off and almost slapped myself for not seeing it earlier...
