Default Quick Question. URGENT!!!

Hey, brand new to this forum and my 2002 f4i. While changing out my plugs I discovered that my fpr(fuel pressure regulator)was failing. I ordered the part immediately, however wont be in till tomorrow at best. I work and go to school and this is my only mode of transportation. So my question is.....Can I simply remove the vacuum line from the bad FPR and plug it, then fit a tiny rag on the nipple end of the FPR? Would plugging that vacuum line to cyl 2 and 3 be a bad temporary fix? I just rather not run her rich since I did just add new plugs. I guess I just don't really understand what the purpose of this vacuum hose is. Anyone who can chime in please do because I gotta head to my first shift at 2 TODAY!!! Thanks in advance
