Default Question about oil level

I just changed my oil and have some question.

There are two lines on oil level window on right side of the oil pan. I though it need to be fill up to the top line when it is sitting stright like on stand and bottom when it is sitting on kick stand with some angle. Is this right? or it is just minmum and maximum oil level.

thanks,

That's the min/max line. Bike has to be sitting level and vertical.

Another good reason to get a rear stand. Or just get a buddy to hold the bike upright when you fill it.

BTW, an owners manual is a good thing and answers questions like this and more.

dwhites right. Two lines are the Min/Max lines. Fill to the top line. I drain the oil, change the filter, put the plug back in, fill about 3 1/2 qts of oil. Start the engine till the red light goes out, stop engine, tilt the bike to upright and check level (with a little flashlight between my teeth). Add if needed. I probably overfill by a 1/4 qt many times. Engine dont care.
