Plugs when done properly will last as long as the tyre (a few thousand miles). LikeCman says, theplug bonds with the tire and thats it. If its a really large hole in the tire, the plug bonds can be weak which may cause it to leak again.

And they do make plug specificly for motorcycles. Amazingly they are identical to the ones I use on my car.
A pluged pin hole is not going to make the tire fail. The plug may fail, and that just cause a a slow leak. These are radial belted tires just like in cars, the metal will hold the thing together. The only time you see blow outs anymore is from serious neglect and abuse.

It is beyond me how people waste so much monet on bike maintaince.

The hole is a bit larger than a eighth inch. It has two plug cords in it with a bunch of cement. I filled it up to 44 lbs last night. Checked it this morning it was at 43 lbs. Checked it just now it is back to 44. If its gonna leak, it will leak when ridden.

It must of been a big nail. I got lucky mine were finishing nails. Just take it easily and ride long enough for the tire to heat up and bond with the plugs. If you lose alot of air the days after then you probably should start saving for a tire. You don't want to get stranded with a flat, unless you carry a spare in your backpack.

I know some use jack stands under the swing arm, but that requires a coulpe of friends to help lift. I don't know how you would get the front off.
