I was doing 143mph and i hit what seemed to be a car brake-pad, front tyre no problem went over it smoothly as it was flat on the ground, but it seemed to have nudged it so when the rear tyre got there it made a hole in it and dented the edge of the rim I slowed down and kept going, it felt as if i just passed over it, after a few miles it totally deflated.
My worry now is the rim, it costs 500$, and I thought since it's a fairly small nudge and it's just 4 months old, i could get it fixed.
My dealer adviced me to get a new rim and not fix it while it could break while fixing it (i mean if it broke "while" fixing then wth i might even try, i can still hang it on my wall even if it broke!), but I thought it's just something salesmen are taught to say. However, is it ok to fix the nudge in the rim? Or is fixing a rim totally out of the question?

Were you doing this on the track or out on the road.

 

Replace the rim. Too much risk not to.

Just wondering why you would be going 143 on the streets.

 

I believe dented wheels are only a problem if they compromise the balancing. I would think if its just cosmetic and it balances fine it wouldn't a problem, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Ok I've just added some pics to my first post. Also learned a few things today when I took my rim to the shop, where I also bought a Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier 180/55zr/17. He said if I want to get it fixed I shouldn't use heat to fix it, because it weakens the tyre. He advised me to some shop near by which has a machine to fix the rim without heating it, anyways I dropped it there and said it may break when trying to fix it, but if it didn't then its fine. I am going back tomorrow.

Why go cheap with you life just get a new rim do you really want to take a risk i have been a tire tech for about 3 years i wouldt even put a bent rim on a car let alone a two wheel street machine and it will not balance and if it does it still will be off becuase its not a complete 360 and it not compseation for the bend in the rim so you ****ed no matter what just bye a new one go on ebay you can get one for cheap prolly my life is worth more then 500 dollers
