Problem Starting my 02 F4i
So i recently, bought back my 02 F4i from the kid i sold it to and it has a problem. The bike appearently is not firing the spark plugs. They are brand new plugs and i have also replaced the ignition coil pacs on each plug. Everything else appears to work fine. My dash powers up as normal. My fuel injection is priming. and my fuel pump is also working. I checked the plugs and there is no Spark. I then checked to see if i could get anything from the ignition pacs, Nothing whatsoever. I have checked all fuses and they are fine. Is there a relay that might have one out or anything that would cause this problem? It was thought that it was the wiring harness so they replaced it but it made no change in the condition. It rode fine one day and not the next. It will turn over just fine, just not fire. Someone please help.

Any chance you or the kid that bought your bike was messing with the front fairing? There is a safety feature that won't allow the bike to start if the front fairing is not on (or electrical is not connected properly).

What you are referring to is the BAS (Bank Angle Sensor) It is a safety switch that cuts off the fuel when the bike tips over. That causes the fuel pump not to prime, it has nothing to do with spark. Is there a PC on there (Power Commander, NOT personal computer)? If so unhook it. Do you know anyone else with an F4i? if so try swapping the ECU.

The Bank angle sensor is good.i unhooked it and as skoobydoobie stated the fule pump wouldn't prime. hooked it back up and pump primed. all electrical connections have been checked, and everything is connected. No power commander. I don't have anyone around me to swap ecu's with. Funny thing though, My buddy who is the dad of the kid who had it, told me that when it quit running, the kid had it over at a friend's place to do the brakes. Another guy over there had the same problem and majically, his cbr 954 was running fine the following day and the f4i never fired again. would it be worth spending $100 on ebay for a used ecu that came off a running bike? guess i could always resell the ecu if it didn't fix problem.
