Default Problem After Changing Oil

Well I just changed out the Oil & Filter on my 01 F4i and I'm having a little problem. I started it and let it run for a couple of minutes. The first minute everything seems fine... the High Idle is on and warming the engine up... However at about 2 minutes the RPMs start to go up (from about 2000 to 3000) and smoke is coming from the front end of the bike... I thought that the smoke may have been coming from some oil that I may have accidentally spilled on to the headers but I think I cleaned most of it up and am still having the problem. Has anyone else experienced something like this???

The revs are puzzling, not sure if an overfill/underfill will affect the idle. Oil on the header will smoke no matter how much you wipe.

I know what you did. I probably put in 4 quarts. The F4i needs only 3.5 quarts. If you overfill it, you will burn it out the pipe. Not good. Drain it out, and re-fill to 3.5 quarts.

Ok I will drain the oil out once the bike cools down some... about the Oil on the headers smoking... Is that just something I have to deal with until it goes away???

You shouldn't have gotten that much on it, it will burn off. Nothing to worry about.

Tin foil? If you are careful, you shouldn't get much if any oil on the headers when taking off the filter. But if that works, cool.
