I don't mind taking the fairings off, it's putting them back on is what I don't like. It actually gets easier the more you do it after muscle memory kicks in.

I think it might have an O2 sensor, my 05F did, if it has it will be in the exhaust link pipe.
Just as a comparison I have just come in from a 'bimble' about with the other half and just popped onto reserve with 156 miles on the trip. My last few trips have been similarly sedate bedding it in the front end maintenance that I have just carried out so would expect c. 50 mpg.

Default False alarm?

I filled her back up and over a week or so I got 40mpg.

128 miles with 14.5 litres of fuel used

Well not knowing how the riding was I'd say that is within a reasonable margin of normal.

it’s certainly normal. I ride hard all the time. I like the thrill. I’d say last time was an anomaly for some reason but I’ll be keeping an eye

I'd expect 100-120 miles on a tank if you're pushing it, 120-150 if you're taking it easy, but not 65 ish, as you state....
When cold, these will rev at c.3k RPMs for a short time; I don't let mine warm up before starting, jumping on, and riding.
