Default How far can your bike go on a full tank?

Today was my first long ride on my CBR.
I was surprised when I went on reserve at 125 miles.
And BUMMED when I hit 146 miles...
Thatz right... I ran out of $tinkin' gas on the highway
I am a total dumb-***!
I was thinking this bike would have a 200 to 300 mile range

So... how far can your bike go on a full tank?

I've run my bike dry and coasted to the pump (yes I have witness's). You should have seen my riding while leaning the bike to the left to get every drop out of that tank. It wouldn't take any more than 4.4 gallons, not a drop more. Now, how far I can go depends on how I'm riding. Standard riding, I'm getting 45 mpg. I've gotten as low as 33 mpg, and as high as 60 mpg (one time).

45 x 4.4 = 198

I usually hit reserve anywhere between 145 and 165, again depending on riding. With .8 gal reserve, that gives me around 36 more miles to go on reserve. That day I ran out, I only got 34 miles .

I've got a '97 F3 with 39K that gets around 175-185 miles at 80mph before turning on the reserve. I can go another 30-35 miles on reserve. Your mileage may vary.

Funny Story... When I first got my bike, I am cruising along behind my friend (who I bought the bike off of) and the bike starts acting funny. No power when I rock the handle..nothing. I pull over. After he realizes I am no longer behind him he turns around and....

Him: Whats wrong
Me: I don't know, it stopped working.
Him: Look at your Odometer, you have 157 miles, you are out of gas.
Me: There wasn't a light or anything
Him: You are definitely a newb to motorcycles.
Me: YA THINK...LOL!!!!!

LOL... I have learned a lot since then.

So anyway PROCRASTINATOR... at about 140 miles, I start looking for a gas station.

My '96 can go about 150 miles then hit reserve for another 30 to 40 miles. There again it depends how you ride it and how much you twist that right wrist! I have hit reserve at 116 before!
