Default gas mileage

i did the math the other day for my stock 00 F4, and it came out to about 23 miles per gallon on the medium level fuel. i havent been redlining it being that im still fairly new to bikes, i think maybe the highest it got was 11-12k when i accidentally put it in neutral and over revved. i havent been racing, stunting, or had any long lengths of high speeds. most of my driving on that tank of gas was under 45mph done in a city. is mid 20's for mpg normal? what all do you guys get when you arent launching from every light or popping wheelies

The best mpg i can get is 42mpg. This is cruising on the highway on a long trip. I went 126 miles on three gallons! How many miles do you get out of tank? I use 91 octane. The lowest i've gotten is 28mpg and this is with more city driving.

How many miles were you driving with the gas light on? I usually fill up as soon as the light comes on and 3 gallons go in. Did you use the reserve at all?

the light is supposed to come on with like 3/4 of a gallon remaining, and i think i read somewhere that the F4 tank holds 4.75 gallons total. i was driving with the light on for a good bit though trying to use up as much gas as i could.

The gas light on my stock 2000 F4 was not working (because I mis wired my turn signals...) so I always used a certain number of miles as a check point for getting gas. The number I determined to be the peddle point was around 180miles. The bike has 39k miles on it and is running almost perfectly. I am a semi conservative rider, but do enjoy the thrust available every now and then. I have always averaged around mid 40's

At a track day I put down 70 miles and used up around 3 gallons. so my bike's mileage can drop down to as low as 23mpg.

Hope you can consistantly get around 180 miles out of a tank full of dinosaur juice.

best i've managed is 165 miles before the low fuel light came on. this is on my daily commute on fast main roads into London from Surrey. so about 55 MPG

On the highway recently I managed to get two tanks at 51mpg... typically 45mpg.

I have a bike maintance database, and EVERY single receipt goes into it - including fuel receipts. For fuel receipts I always fill the tank full and right the odometer and tripometer on the receipt. I then zero the trip. This means I always know exactly how far I went on exactly how many litres (gallons). It's a good indicator of the bikes condition... if it isn't breathing right the milage will drop off.

The cool bonus is I know exactly how far I've gone since the last oil change, how many miles and what type of riding I've put on the tires, chain and sprockets... plus I can prove how it's cheaper for me to ride my bike to work (including maintance) than it is for me to take the car (vw)
