Default please help identify the purpose of these wires on clutch lever assembly

2006 F4i

While replacing the brake and clutch levers ("easy" & "wtf omg", respectively), I ran into a stuck-to-the-max clutch lever pivot bolt similar (pretty much exact same scenario) to this previous post < https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-...roblem-151939/ >.

I used the dull side of a dinner knife, and rather than the bolt breaking loose, the knife bent to a 90º angle. It was also missing the nut, so I don't know if the previous owner used loctite, etc. Not having a flat-head impact option, I decided to just remove the whole assembly and replace with OEM from Partzilla.

My question is - what is this wired connection in the photos? With the clutch lever assembly removed from the bike as seen in the photos, I turned the key "on" and tested the L & R signals, low & high beam headlight, and horn. All functioned fine. So that leaves me puzzled what the wired connection to the clutch lever assembly is for.

Thank you!

Just a guess, Danno will be by shortly to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm going to say Clutch Safety Switch. Keeps the bike from starting when in gear if the clutch isn't pulled.

Thank you! I didn't even think about that, but it makes sense.

Thanks again!

Yup, clutch switch won't allow bike to start if not in neutral or kickstand's down. When in squeezed clutch mode, ECU picks default basic fuel/ignition settings. Don't rig clutch switch lines, will result in lowered power.
