Default Picked up a CBR, have some questions.

Hi all,

First post.

I just bought a 2002 F4i (will post pics soon!). I have a few questions:

1) How do I set the time on the digital display?

2) How much valve noise is acceptable? If I put my ear right next to the tank, I can hear a little tapping... do they need adjusting? I can't be sure of when (or if) they have been adjusted before. The bike has about 10,000 miles on it.

3) The 'key' light (HISS?) flashes very faintly when idling - but goes away once revs build. Normal?

4) When should I change spark plugs? The shop I bought it from said that they were still the originals...

The bike runs like a champ though - idle is smooth @1300rpm , pulls really strong - and around here (Korea) there aren't too many F4is to speak of, so it's actually a bit of an exotic! I'll be looking for a rear hugger, fender eliminator, and maybe some CF ram-air plastic bits (and those two areas of (now grey) plastic behind the clip-ons).

Thanks for your help!

ahh yea, the two buttons on the left side of the tach. Well you should be able to push in the top button and then change the clock that way. Also when you say valve noise, i dont think it should be crazy loud, and if your ear is to the tank then its probably just vibration noise. Also sinse F4i's have a problem with the stock cam chain tensioners (CCT"s) then i would invest in an aftermarket manual CCT. Cant help ya with the lights when idling. The spark plugs should last a while. but sinse the bike already has about 10K on it, then it is probably smart to change em' anyways. good luck on all the aftermarket finds. Ebay, is a hot place to find alot of that stuff. good luck and welcome to the forum.
