Default Opinions on tires

Hey guys so I have seen the other comments about tires that dated back in 2011. Was curious if anyone has an updated opinion about what’s a good tire to run now? I have a 2002 CBR f4i I’ve heard Dunlop road smarts and Q3 sport max plus are good ones as well as Michelin pilots. I daily mine in the summer and late fall. With some minor wet Michigan rain. I’ve heard Q3 are more aggressive than the others but I don’t know for sure. Any recommendations would be awesome! Thanks

Q3+ are stickier than average street tyre. Doesn’t last very long and not good in rain. Great track tyre though!

Depends upon type of riding you do:

- commuting = 60-80% ???
- rain = 10-20% ???
- canyon carving in twisties = 10-20% ???

Then you really don’t need extra grip of track-focused Q3+ and its downside of low-mileage and poor rain performance.

A more touring-oriented tyre would suit you better. I’m on 2nd set of these Kenda KM1 tyres on my VFR. Got 18k-miles out of 1st set for commuting to S.F. And about 10 trackdays thrown in as well!

For your 2002 CBR F4i, Dunlop Roadsmart IV and Michelin Road 6 are excellent for daily riding and wet conditions, offering great grip and durability. The Q3+ is more aggressive and suited for spirited riding or track days but may wear out faster for daily use. Michelin Pilot Road 5 or 6 and Pirelli Angel GT II are great all-around options, balancing wet-weather performance, comfort, and sporty handling. For commuting and wet Michigan rain, I’d recommend the Roadsmart IV or Michelin Road 6. If you ride more aggressively, consider the Q3+ or Michelin Power 5.
