Bike: 2001 f4i
Mileage: 22,xxx

Had the bike for three months after it sat for 2 years. Replaced fuel pump fpr two injectors and cct... Needs the guides and chain and sprocket and tires and it'll be really road ready. I love my bike and ain't even got to ride it!! But I will as soon as it gets warm enough!

Default update

I posted in this thread 2 years ago. Noticed that it was brought back around so thought an update was in order. I'm up to 77,000 miles now and aside from normal maintenance only issues have been replaced starter switch due to headlight failure and finally replaced the cctl at 70,000 miles.
Gotta love these f4i's!
It's an '06 purchased new in March of '07.

2002 F4i with 20K miles
Excellent condition. Replaced the CCTL with a manual and the rest has been routine maintenance. Only problem was a sticky starter switch cured with a shot of WD-40.

HELLO OLD THREAD!!!!
Guess I should update. I'm at 84,000 miles now. Had to pull head and have new intake valves installed, old valves looked more like pizza cutters and bike wouldn't idle very well. Exhaust valves were in great shape weirdly enough. Still has never broken down. Also installed ohlins shock since 2010 haha.

2001 F4i brought her beginning of Jan this year. She had 43000 Km's on her.

PO had her unrego'd for nearly a year and a half after he put her down the road, PO put on new front wheel/forks/radiator and new front fairing. I don't think PO had looked after her at all, when i changed the rear brake pads and bled it, the stuff that came out the end of the valve looked like it should have come out the end of something else! The oil when i changed it was like dark treacle and the coolant looked like gravyI Stripped her/serviced her and dressed her up, she's now got 46000 Km's and she fells pretty good, she's a bit thirsty - avg about 200 Km's a tank so i don't know if thats telling me there's something wrong somewhere or I'm a 'little' heavy handed when 'spanking' her - she seems to like being 'spanked' she's a lil naughty like that

Think i'll look at changing the CCTi, plugs and check valve clearances next time she gets stripped after the Summer/Autumn's (spanking's) ridings done.

Have just had to replace the Gearshift Arm as it broke on me while riding.
This is likely due to excess stress, as I am having issues with the gearbox jumping out of gear. Saving up for that fix.
Fork seals replaced only recently.
Usual sticky starter.
Had an odd issue, whereby it would turn over but not start. This was seemingly due to lack of compression, possibly caused by sticking rings.
A few frequent oil changes, and I have not had issues in years.

Otherwise, this bike is awesome.
BTW I know it is not what this bike is about for most, but just recently have had fuel economy of almost 21Km/Lt...or 4.76Lt/100Km...or roughly 49 miles/US Gallon (normally getting around 18-19Km/Lt though)
