oil needs to be changed
My bike seems to be running really slugish and i believe its because i need to change the oil. Its got just over 6000 miles on it, and i changed the oil at just under 3000 miles. Now i have been reading that synthetic is the best, and an all mineral one is best. But its kinda an opinion thing i guess. I have decided to run synthetic just because i believe it protects the motor alitlle bit better, and i dont ride in the winter so i dont really worry about having to ride it in extreme cold weather. So could someone please let me know what they think is the best oil/filter combo. thanks
I'll comment, but if you search, you'll find more. You're going to get as many opinions as there are ******** on this board.
I use OEM filters and OEM, HP4 (semi-synthetic) Honda 10W-40 oil.

I use Honda oil in my streetbike, same as mikem
filter doesn't really matter (I've heard Fram oil filters break down and get cardboard in your engine though)
OEM or K&N are the best imo the only benefit of the K&N is that its easier to install and safety wire

As for oil, pick any of the following and you won't be disappointed:
Mobil1 MX4T
Amsoil
Motul 300V
The synthetic is better oil, that is a fact. It reduces friction, which can increase HP. Not enough that you will notice, but that reduced friction is also less wear and tear on your motor. Less friction also means less heat.
Bottom line is that I spent well over eight thousand dollars on my bike, plus gear and aftermarket accessories for it. Why scrimp on oil, knowing that it is the life-blood of your engine?

Your oil doesn't have anything to do with the bike feeling 'sluggish'. I think your butt dyno needs to be recalibrated. Anyhow, I use Hondas HP4 and a Honda oil filter. Don't forget to put on a new crush washer on the drain plug too.
Sluggish means broken. Have you had the simple things replaced? plugs, fuel filter, air filter, whatnot like that???
Synthetic may yield a very slight power increase, but most people consider it cheap insurance for the motor. There are so many threads on Oil, that a search would be your best bet.

yea i have spark plugs that i bought alitlle while ago, but i was planning on replacing those when i did the oil. Im gonna go up to the dealership tomorrow and get the OEM oil and filter. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a better oil than the honda OEM.
