Default noob - changing back shock "plate"

Hi,

I have a 2002 F4i, and the guy before me was short so he had it lowered.

I got the front shocks restored to full height with the help of some tie-belts , but the rear suspension 'plates' (part 6 in figure) have also been changed. I bought the stock plate, i'm wondering whether I can put this in myself? I'm thinking jacking up the bike with a car jack, having a friend hold it stable and then removing the back linkages?

I only have my mechanical intuition to go by, otherwise I'm a nooB (first bike, 1 month). Will the shock spring out to where I cant restore it or something?

Any recommendations on this job? In lowering the bike, would any other part have been changed? How do I 'spot' this?

Any answers will help!

You can do it that way, OR you can suspend the subframe from the ceiling of your garage with ratchet straps.

Where is the best place to attach straps so that the back wheel raises instead of the front?

Thanks,
