newb pc3 question!
can anyone explain this to me! i have a pc3 and am going to install it over the winter (i know, what a weak *** winter project!) but i hear this from everyone on here who has a pc3 when it comes to throttle smoothness or throttle response. when we say that it improves throttle response/smoothness what exactly does that mean? i mean, maybe cuz i'm sorta a newbie rider (8 months now) or maybe i can't really tell, but what kinda of smoothness/better response are we suppose to be anticipating? cuz i mean, it feels smooth to me already... someone please explain or describe!
thanx...
thanx...
HArd to explain..But it will be a big improvement..
You may or maynot notice the off/on the throttle has, say when you let off and hit it again..Well the pc takes most of that away. Its a smoother transition when getting back into the throttle.

when you plug the cables in make sure to put some of that electrical goo to make sure the connection stays, might not hurt to wrap it on some tape too. if that thing gets loose, youll be at a track in the pits with you bike in like 20pcs. wondering why it is running soo weird. than realize you took out the spark plugs for nothing.... o wait, thats wut happend to me.
you might notice a slight improvement in throttle response andoff/on thottle jump but without a custom map, it won't be anything amazing.
The maps that Dynojet include are said to be well on the conservative side and are pretty generic (everybike, even same model,is slightly different so one map won't be right for every F4i). I've had decent luck with user updated maps but those are still made for one bike, so nothing short of a custom map will be ideal.

You can tweak it yourself as well. Ride with it for a while, experiment with throttle pulls...ie. on a straight (preferrably not busy) stretch of road, have it in second gear from idle, and pull hard all the way to redline. Do it a couple times until you can feel certain areas of RPM where it doesn't feel like its accellerating as smoothly, bogs down, or feels jumpy. Using the software from Dynojet, you can modify the map...just do it in small increments until you feel improvements in those areas, by leaning or richening the air/fuel mix. It takes time, trial and error, but don't rush it. The alternative is spending a couple C-notes and taking it to a dyno place for a couple hours to have them set it up with a custom map, but I wouldn't recommend you do that until you have all the performance mods you'll ever buy for the bike installed, as any tweaks to the fuel/air delivery will need to be re-tuned. Its not really worth spending the big bux on a custom tune if you're just running a filter and slip-on though, as the gain will be marginal.
funny thing that you mention it... i'm not even running a filter. mine's still OEM. piece of sh*t setup i have, i know. would you guys even say it's worth putting on? or just sell that dayam thing?
