RE: NEW SPROCKETS/CHAIN
I bought a chain tool. Of course I loath to let anyone else work on my bike. It will save you money in the long run since you only need to buy it once and it will work for as long as bikes have chains.
You could always install the sprockets and then take it to the shop (TRAILER IT, DO NOT RIDE) and have them install the chain only. That should save quite a bit.

Hey I JUST did this and I didnt buy a tool. I cut my old chain, had to run to sears to get a 22mm and a 27mm to remove the rear tire. I dont know why they were different sizes. Everything went smoothly but when I had to put the masterlink in... I had to get a little creative. after I sized the chain and put it all together you have to press the masterlink on. What I did was grab a c clamp and a small socket. put the socket over the rivet or whatever it is and pressed it on that way, there are two of them. I did one at a time. Put the clip in and I was good to go! re-adjust the chain, chain lube and everything is cool. I top out now at like..140 but thats alright. I like to get there faster!

RE: NEW SPROCKETS/CHAIN
That is because you used a Clip on Master link.
Most folks use a Rivet On mater link. Once you have seen a clip come loose you know why. Unless you safety wired the clip, you are just waiting for an accident to happen. When you blow a master link the chain shoots forward and usually cracks the engine case totalling it. It also destroys all the bodywork on that side. If you are lucky it will miss your leg OR only graze you, not rip through the meat like a chainsaw.
So in short I prefer a Rivet On master link that cannot come undone. The tool is not expensive. Bodywork, Engine Cases, and prosthetic legs are all a little bit more pricey.
Do what you want. Just remember that you are riding a racebike not a cruiser. You put a hell of a lot more strain on the chain that your average harley.
