Default Chain and sprockets

Recently got my first bike (01 F4i) and my sprockets are -? front and +2 rear. Aside from throwing off my speedo and ruining my odometer reading, I wonder if it's affecting gas mileage. I don't really care about being able to accelerate faster; I mostly bought it as a (really extremely fun) commuter bike.

Have any of you noticed significant changes is gas mileage one way or another after changing sprockets?

Where and what brand of chain and sprocket kit do you recommend I pick up?

I have -1/+2 on mine, and from what I've been getting so far I can say that it does affect your gas mileage. I'm getting about 30-33 mpg. It actually really sucks for a 600cc engine, but I guess it also depends on your riding style.

The speedo you can fix by installing a speedohealer (just google it and you will understand what I'm talking about)

Brands are always solely a personal choice. I'm using Vortex sprockets and Regina chain. DID and RK chains are as good. Driven is also good for sprockets.

Here is the kit I've got on mine: http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...I--608805.html

For gas mileage it's better to keep the front/rear ration to 1:3. The stock tooth count is 16/46, so if you go with just +2 on the rear it will be nearly perfect. I might be mistaken on this one though

i have a full stock set up that would do you very well-stay stock if you are really worried about gas milage and commuting. changing gearing wont have a DRASTIC change but it will make a difference, and you will see higher rpms at cruising speeds
either way is fine but for real, if you want a stock chain and sprockets at an amazing price lmk i can hook you up

I'm about 50/50 conservative and getting on the throttle. I used my GPS tonight to verify my speedo/odo read about 16% high. Accounting for that, I'm getting 34-38 mpg.

I've looked at the speedohealer, but I'm looking for more than just an accurate readout. Stock gearing will give me a little smoother driving at low speeds and help gas mileage a bit.

Vangill, send me a PM about it?

You could also get a smaller sprocket in the rear, especially if you do alot of hwy riding.
