I think the guy heard the CCTL going out and assumed or was misinformed it may be something worse cause he sold it to me for $2600 and it had just clicked 10k miles.

I replaced the CCTL and she runs like a sewing machine

I'm going riding now

Hahaha that's awesome. Sounds like you got a super deal. Maybe something like that will fall into my lap when I am ready to make the purchase.

What's the "L" part refer to? I thought it was just CCT (Cam Chain Tensioner)?

As for you mileage question, as long as the bike has been taken care of, higher mileage isn't a problem. Forum member "Thirdgenlxi" had well over 100K b/f having to do any major engine work.
wasn't his engine work due to an unfortunate accident??
if i'm thinking right...he had over 175,000 miles on his and bought a 15,000 mile motor that unfortunately not as well taken care of.

definitely, make sure what you get (if used) has been well taken care of.

The "L" is for lifter, as in cam chain tensioner lifter. There's another thread in here somewhere where this is discussed extensively. Check out Bike Bandit's web site to get a clear picture.

Okay, thanks. I was reading through the thread briefly. I was already aware of the problem. The Street Triple's suffered a similar malfunction as well. However, from the pictures I saw of one guy's Street triple, the problem was much worse.
