Default New Here, Oil Question>>

Hi everyone! I just picked up my 2002 F4i last night. 6.7K miles, really nice original shape. Runds really well. One problem, first thing today I changed the oil. After it was done draining it had 5 quarts in it!! What kind of damage did the previous owner/service shop potentially leave me with? I will get pics soon...Just need to get it all detailed up...

All that extra oil is added fluidic pressure and can cause it to seep past the rings and such and burn off or cause gasket leakage problems. But if you don't see anything like that it may just be OK. Just be sure to use the right amount and monitor performance.

Probably not enough to hurt it. I've seen way worse without damage.

i don't know if your bike was stunted, but thats what they generally do with the f4i. they run a quart over and no aftermarket oil pick-up. i wouldn't worry about it

Lamby, 3.5 quarts is the right amount. Last thing you want to do is add more oil than needed...

Thanks to all who replied... Now if the weather would just cooperate I'd be in business...
