hmm...ya i would get a new batt. and see if that fixes it. Or try to find someone w/ the same battery as you and put it in. That would be the easiest fix i would think. Never heard of anybody's stator going out but it could happen

Well, for the sake of getting back on the road ASAP I just took the bike to the shop. Of course the weather just turned into sunny/blue skies damn it!

The guy at the shop mentioned it could be the regulator, so I hope it's that and not somethine dumb like the battery

I'll let you know what it turns out to be, thanks for the help

So...

Got a call back from the shop and it's the regulator that's malfunctioning. they said it wasn't charging once the RPMs reached a certain level so the battery would drain.

They also said my battery is on it's last legs and they want to replace it. I said WTF ok just do it I want my bike back

(prices in CDN)

Battery $155
Regulator $180

So plus labour and i'll be looking at around $500
Argh...

I could probably get a better deal by getting the parts on ebay but they have them in stock and I don't want to wait.

Yeah I noticed a couple of other posts! Maybe it's global warming..
if I was a little more knowledgable I would have tested the regulator. If something like this happens again I'll be more likely to find the problem.
Lesson learned!
