I don't know 'bout where you live but here in Utah a lot of motorcycle riders will give a three fingered wave below the left handlebar to other motorcycles.
I'll initiate a wave to sport bikes but not cruisers. If a cruiser waves I'll wave back.

So today I was riding to work on the freeway and I see a pair of really bright sporty headlights coming towards me. They weren't huge and round and I didn't see the customary huge mirrors and pegs sticking out so I figured it was a sport bike. So I wave.

It turned out to be some jackass on a scooter! i gave validation to a scooter rider. Man I hate those things! They're making them way too sporty looking.

 

i live in Northern VA about 20 mins outside of DC.. and these things are becoming more and more popular.. i caught myself almost waving to one today.. saw it comin around the bend and looked sporty.. luckily i had to grab clutch right as he went by and sure enough.. little scooter goes buzzing by.

 

i never did understand why curisers think they are better than us..... just because they feel like spending a ton of money to just put more weight on their bikes..... and can wear leather with tassels on it..... and helmets that arent functional....

 

It doesn't bother me waving at scooter... two wheels one love right?... It just drive me when they fail to acknowledge me after I did them the courtesy...

 

around here everyone on two wheels pretty much give the wave, sport rider and cruisers alike. even the harley guys will throw out the wave. what gets me is the guys on the electric scooters doin 25mph holen everyone up. but two wheels is two wheels

 

harley guys arent being mean when they dont wave, its bcuz if they take a hand off the handle bar they will be vibrated off and wreck

The Bike Police won't diss you if you happen to wave at a scooter. It's ok. Really.

I wave to everyone on a bike (not scooters tho). Cruiser, motard, sportbike, old *** Yamaha...it doesn't matter. I have noticed alot of Cruizer guys dont wave back...but oh well, maybe they will someday. I am trying to break the sportbike/cruizer hatred one wave at a time.

 

Every one here is Nor Cal is pretty nice,( the HD guys included ) i try to wave to every one( including the duel sport guys ) on a two st but only the rockets on the freeway.
NO LITTLE SCOOTERS !!!!
But they know better than to wave to me as well.
