I'm from South Cali. All riders here are pretty polite
I have two buddies of mine who ride Harleys. So, we always wave to anyone (although it looks pretty weird, sport bike riding along with Harleys). Haven't tried with the cops, but they are mean in cali.

Heck yes wave to the cops. You gotta get brownie points when you can, and everyone loves getting a wave.

i wave to cops all the time. especially when i'm on campus because you never know when you'll need brownie points. i have a yellow f4i, which is pretty unique in my area, the cops know my bike and they actually wave to me first now .

Hahaha I've actually had the dilemma of waving to cops. I've always thought, two wheels, why not. But cops in Socal are ****** so I never knew what to do about them. They put themselves in a whole new category when they put on that uniform.

Not enough motor officers around here to wave at. We've got a few in Sarasota County, but I rarely see them.

Mostly Harley riders down here in Florida. They almost always wave back and often initiate the wave.

Here's a tricky question. At bike week in Daytona, the wave is, by mutually but unspoken agreement, suspended. Your arm would fall off. But at some distance from Daytona, it's automatically resumed.

How to figure out that distance?

I wave at everyone, even those 3 wheel Bombardier things. Why not? The scooter rider may just want to graduate to a real bike, so let's recognize him too. But when the weather's good on a weekend your arm can get pretty sore.
