A shift light is a warning lamp fitted to vehicles in order to indicate to the driver that maximum RPM has almost been reached. Ideally a shift lamp will illuminate at the engine speed beyond that which delivers the maximum BHP such that the BHP before and after shifting is the same. Accelerating the engine beyond this point is not conducive to rapid acceleration. In use a shift light allows the driver to judge the exact point that a gear change should be carried out without having to glance down at the tachometer. This also increases safety for the driver by keeping his focus on the track at all times.

this is pretty good, thanks
its what i was trying to say......i cant ever explain it right lol

But as for the shift light, I always figured that it was a shift light and nothing else, until i talked to a mechanic who said that most all bikes 2000+ have check engine lights.. but i've never noticed one on mine..
thats to high. the manuals troubleshooting steps say if the temp reaches over 226 without kicking on the fan to check the fan by grounding the wire that is on the temp switch and if the fan comes on replace the temp switch. its supposed to come on at 225 and myself and others i know have replaced the switch with one that kicks on at 205 (i thinks its out of a prelude but not sure). but i have no idea why they would put a 234 in there.

on every bike and car ive dragged, taking it all the way to red line in each gear would produce a higher time. thats why aftermarket tachs with "shift lights" are adjustable so you can run your vehicle multiple times while shifting at different rpms to see which will produce the lowest time. then you set the light to that rpm. and alot of them will do multiple gears because the "shift light" is most often different rpms in different gears. but hey if you feel your bike is faster redlining every gear by all means its yours.

dayyyyum. Well I'm going to do that lower temp sensor swap that's in the DIY section... hopefully that will fix things...

250 is overheat according to the manual. The higher you're climbing before the fan kicks in, the less cushion you got before bad things start happening
