IGNITIONG WIRES CUT, WONT START
okay so here goes my first post. I woke up this morning and i noticed that my igntion wires from my 2001 f4i were cut, so i guess somebody wanted the bike more than i did. i tried to connect the igntion wires by matching them to there respective colors to see if could get it to start. but it failed. I alsot tried connected the cables to other cables but my attempts also failed. now i dont know what the problem could be. so if someone can please tell me what i am doing wrong i will appreciated it or is there a system on the f4i that automatically shuts the ecu if its being tampered with. SO WHATS THE PROBLEM?
thank you.
thank you.

RE: IGNITIONG WIRES CUT, WONT START
First check the fuses. The f4 and f4i have a pink wire coming out of the ignition. This wire is not battery voltage, it's 9 volts. There is a resistor in the ignition that drops the voltage. This is why you can't just cut the wires and hot wire the bike. Get a manual and use the wireing diagram. I'm not sure but sending 12v down the pink wire may fry the ecm. On anothernote i always wonder if people who steal bikes make theese posts on forums, so maybe from now on we should just tell people with theese questions to see a dealer.
