Default Ignition mod

Is there an ignition timing mod for the f4i? Can you advance the timing three degrees or so for throttle response? Just wondering because my buddy did it on his Yamaha fz1.

factory pro sells an ignition advancer. That would be the route you would want to go.

Or I think the power commander IIIr allows ou to adjust ignition curve depending on throttle position. This would require a Dino tune though. Or the ignition advancer can bemused butit a fixed amount of advance. This is cheaper and easier to do... I don't think you will notice much gain if any though. At leat I didn't.

I've got an adjustable one on mine. After all the reading I did from others doing it, I was expecting more of a midrange gain but couldn't notice much. Some people say the same thing and others say they noticed it. It's not too expensive so you aren't out much to try it if it's something you are interested in.

Got mine off eBay. Mine is RPM and is set at six degrees advance but can advance or retard from +10 to -10. Factory pro is most common and is four degrees advance is typically whay youll find on the f4i. Check eBay or amazon for the best deals.

Your best bet for a better throttle response would be to change your gearing...
