the 4 bars start blinking in just about 10 miles or so. If you're on the highway, that means you still have ~30 mi to go (assuming you get 40-45). But if you're in the city, wasting gas at stop lights, you can go empty in way fewer miles after hitting 4 flashing lights. Just get to know what mileage your bike gives. On the highway I know I'll get about 140-150 before I hit reserve and say 180-200 before the tank's dry. In the city I've had a surprise, but it was timed so well that the bike cut off right as I pulled in to my driveway :P

Four solid bars, goes down to 1 solid bar, then it goes to 4 blinking bars and down. 1 blinking bar means you better be damn close to a gas station.
ding ding ding!

And I'm with kneepuck... it's hard to beat the rush you get from two blinking bars lol... then it's 6th gear at 50mph at a full tuck 'till the next station for me! [8D]

i find my gauge is pretty much useless if i turn the bike off then back on. Found out the hard way when i had to push the bike to the gas station

it's got the delay of the display just so you don't have "much less fuel"on let's say acceleration and "much more" on braking

Mine goes from 4 bars to zero in about 1 mile...not sure if that is normal or not but otherwise I get really good gas mileage

i dont what whats up with the 1 bars to 1 bar then 4 flashing to 1 flash guys, but thats not what my 06 f4i does...its 4 solid, then 1 flashes, 2 flashes, 3 flash, when all 4 flash its a adrenaline rush to make it to the station.

Actually come to think of it, I believe it's 4 solid, then start blinking in sequence, then after all 4 are blinking they start disappearing in sequence. Hayden, you've probably got a good 10 miles still once you get to four flashing bars. I've had mine down to 2 flashing bars.

This is how my bike worked IIRC.
