Scared the **** outta myself today
So we were loading my bike up into the back of a truck and we had it to about where the back tire was at the end of the ramp and i had to jump up and i didnt want to pop the clutch so i killed it and got onto the front brake so i hoped into the back of the truck while my buddy was holding the back incase it went either way.... and i started it back up [sm=badidea.gif] and low and behold i start it give it some gas and bam the ramp shot out from under the bike but luckily i mean Praise whoever my friend caught it on the Oh **** bar and we got it up there :/
How does everyone load up their bike?
How does everyone load up their bike?
take a tiedown strapand secure the middle of the ramp to the the bumper of the truck (hitch ball, etc...). then just ride the bike up the ramp at an even mild speed. the tie-down will prevent the ramp from gettin spit out by the rotating reartire
Just back your truck up to a small hill...i do it all the time cause i don't have a ramp to load it (too poor)...when i do load it i don't start the bike..just got to push it and have other person help you lift the front end if there is a little height diffenence with the hill and your tailgate(or use a board if no one is around to help and just push it up)...then push the rest of iton and just tie it down with rachet straps that lock..
All replies so far are good tips. You gotta tie the ramp to the truck. Backing up to a hill works great, or if you have a bar ditch you can back your back wheels into it(helps to have 4wd), then the tailgate is maybe a foot off the ground. If you don't have a hill or ditch, just run with the bike and get some momentum and speed before you get to the ramp. If you're going to ride up the ramp with the motor on, just try not to have to give it gas because you've seen what happens.
