RE: HOW DO I LOWER MY 01 F4I
why n why? both of those will affect the handling of your bike in a negative way.
But..
The correct way to lower it is to get a lowering dogbone for the rear. And to cut your fork tubes etc cut 1" shorter, but most ppl halfass it n just raise them up in the triple trees. Again this will reduce your lean angle n completely throw the handling off compared to what its meant to be, esp if your ride twisties n such.

JB...welcome to the site. You don't have to post in all caps if you don't want to. Lowering the bike, and putting on the biggerskinwill absolutely compromise your ability to corner. What do you want to get out of your motorcycle? Your ride is only for you, but if you want to corner, you are better leaving the rear alone and getting a pair of boots with tall tread. I bought a pair of boots thatmade me an inch and a half taller so I could stand flat footed at a light. If you wear a 10 1/2, I will be glad to send them to your for freight because I have a new set of boots, and I don't use my old ones anymore.

180/55/17 or a 190/50/17...... not sure there is inch there unless you are talking about a 190/55, but I have never put a tape to them? Don't forget, when you lower them you also reduce travel thus requiring new valving, shim stack and springs to make the most of what you have.

I read an article on this, i think it was in a magazine called super streetbike, i'll try to find if you're interested.
It told exactly how to lower it an inch or two while keeping as much of your original handling characteristics as possible.
The biggest problem, once you get your suspension to work with the lowering, is clearance. You've already got a high-mount exhaust, maybe with some aftermarket rearsets you can get back to the original intended max. lean angles. (and you can get some rearsets that look BA as well.)
