How to clean chain lube from plastic?
as for cleaning, just good ol gas station pump kero.
for cleaning, yet again....HONDA polish, this stuff will work on anything. I recommend it for everthing, it may even work for cooking eggs

PJ is the best to lube the chain. As to the removal of the gunk I use carb cleaner but be very carful of the paint on the plastics as the cleaner will remove ALL paint on the plastics. Karo works really well.
motorex racing chain lube, **** hardly flings off at all, plus i use this thing called the grunge brush i saw and that bastard works like a champ, but for the tough stuff wd-40 all the way
You can use brake/contact cleaner to clean the old lube flingage off, spray it on a rag and wipe the surface. Once cleaned, apply some wax for easir removal in the future should it be necessary.
I use Bel-Ray Super Clean Chain Lube (NOT the MC-2 synthetic stuff, haven't tried it). White stuff, dries white. I clean my chain with a small brass brush and spray brake/contact cleaner on a rag to remove any old residue. Then use a clean old rag to thouroghly wipe the chain down. Once dry spray the Bell-Ray on the sprocket contact side of the chaine and the sides. I let the chain sit over night. This method to date has yet to let any lube loose on my wheels, fairings or chain gaurd (on the under side even). The chain stays white and doesn't attract dust, I live on a gravel road and have to travel it 1 mile twice a day. When I wash the bike, I rinse the chain off and it is white again and still lubed. I don't lube but about every 2000 miles.
I've used the Honda lube using the same techniques and it will fling until it is gone, plus it coats the under side of the chain gaurd in a major way. I also use Maxim Chain wax lube. It'll fling slightly, I use it on my dirt bikes.
