Hello all. I just got new tires and inspection done on my 02 f4i and got caught in a terrible thunderstorm on the way back to my place. I ended up being in the storm for all of about 25 minutes and was soaked on the way back. I let the bike site for about an hour and went to ride it to another place but noticed a small hesitation. At first, I thought this was just my hands but when keeping the throttle consistant, the bike was bucking lightly back and forth. After about 10 minutes of this, it got worse and worse, finally with the FI light coming on and the tach signal dying (bike shutting off but coming back on). Finally, it just died. I let it sit for about a minute and after that it started right up and felt fine.

Any idea what caused this? Was thinking a soaked air filter but I dont know...

 

What do you mean you got "caught" in the rainstorm? You made the choice to ride on a stormy day!

Anyhoo, I would say that torrential downpours and riding shouldn't mix. Once the bike has a chance to dry off it should be fine. Unless.......it was the inspection that did it!
