def check plugs and air filter first. also look at the burn pattern on the plugs if you pull them. they should be like a light gray color if it is running properly. how many miles are on your bike?

 

just hit 16k. The plugs come in tomarrow. The air filter was replaced at 12k, but im going to get a K&N. hopefully a power commander. Im also going to run some fuel injector cleaner(same stuff works with cars works with bikes ya?). Probly going to run me 400-500 more dollars. id be very suprised/scared if i replace the air filter and the spark plugs and it still doesn't run right.

 

I'd say fuel filter sounds clogged or fuel pump on its way out. If you're holding steady throttle and the road is steady your RPM shouldn't change like that. If it's running bad, it should be consistently bad.
