Help with wiring!!
I have a 02 600 F4I. I am getting some flush mount turn signals both front and back but i'm not very familiar with wiring. I also plan to get a GPS. Again, I am not familiar with wiring so if someone could briefly explain the process just a little bit, i would be very thankful
Fairly easy, if you're talking incandescent bulbs for the flush-mounts.
Should be 3 wires going to each bulb, one ground (probably green),
one solid color and one (the same color as solid color) with stripe.
the color and color/stripe are the hots for cruise and turn.
If you disconnect on of the solid wires going to a turn signal,
then turn on the ignition-you should be able to tell which, goes to which function.
Then hook up the new ones using the same pattern.
If you are converting to led lamps, you will need to add a resistor.
If you don't, the lighter load on the flasher relay will cause them to blink really fast.
Do a search on led conversions, for a more in-depth explanation.
Adding a USB or 12volt power to the bike for the GPS is fairly easy, as well.
There is a great write up in the how-to's for a usb add-on power.
Depending on where you install/mount it on the bike, just be sure to tap a constant 'hot'.
Either, the fan wire (before the fan switch), or the hot for the cruise lights
(that you just figured out) are a potential source, to tap.
For mounting the GPS, I mounted mine in the hollow stem of the steering-head.
I took a bolt that would just slip into the head, added a washer, then a piece of rubber tubing...
another washer and a nut. Slide it into the stem, bolt-head first.
Tighten the nut, till it compresses the rubber tubing enough to bind inside the stem.
Finally, epoxy a plastic bead, onto the bolt-end that's sticking out.
Mount the GPS body, in the usual fashion onto the bead.
Here's a pic of mine...

Hope this helps, Ern
