Default Help with rough engine

hi guys,

i'm new to all this biking so be gentle,I have an 02 600fi which i got arround 3 weeks ago. It has started running rough between 3.5-5k revs, sounds horrible. it only has 14k on the clock. Took it to my local dealer who says it requires a new cam tensioner. Does this sound right? He also said it is ok to ride ashe cannot fit me in for arround 2 weeks, does this sound ok as i don't want to kill my new pride and joy.

thanks

Mark

There are tons of threads on the CCT issue. I'm not familiar with it because (knock on wood) haven't experienced it. From what I hear it isn't harmful, just annoying.

yep, tons of members on this forum have that issue - it may be a good time to invest in a manual one since yours needs to be replaced. I've been lucky so far and haven't needed to replace mine so I can't be too much help, but I know when/if I have to change mine I'll put a manual one in.
