Default Headlights keep turning off!!!

so i've been having this problem for several weeks now and i'm not sure what it is.

the headlights will turn off or on occasionally which makes me think relay because i can hear it click when they turn off or on.

if i lightly tap the starter switch they'll usually turn on but i can't trust them to stay on for too long......sooo i'm thinking maybe a bad relay that is voltage sensitive / intermittent? That would make sense because tapping the starter switch momentarily cuts power to the relay and then re-energizes it, right??? The other problem is that I can't find a headlight relay in the breakdowns so i don't know where to find and test it

any ideas are appreciated

The relays are in between the headlights behind the upper fairings. You can stick your hand in there and find it. There are two relays, one for high and one for low beam. You can swap them out and see if the problem goes away. G'luck

Talking Hum?

First off i am an aircraft electrician, second if your tapping on your starter switch and the light comes on then i would look there first.. i know thats weird but if you tap on that and something happens there is a bad connection in the switch. Open it up check the connections. Next get a service manual and a digital multi meter and shoot the wires and see what you fine. send me a PM if you find out whats wrong or need help... good luck buddy

I had the same problem. On a tip from this forum, I took apart the starter switch pod and the light switch pod and looked for problems - but I didn't find anything wrong. Put them back together and never had another issue.

thanks for the tips, I'll try swapping the relays and disassembling the switch first
