Default Headlight/Starter Switch

I've had the issue of no headlights lately, and in the past I had issues with the starter button. If the headlights didn't work in the past, I would just pull out the button further on the starter switch, solving my headlight problem. However, that isn't working any more.

I bought a new switch and am in the process of replacing it. I tried searching the forum before posting this and didn't find anything, so I hope this isn't a repost, but I need some help.

The two cables that run into the back of the switch is what I'm struggling with, I have the nuts loosened, but the cables won't come out.

Suggestions? Are they attached to something on the inside?

Yeah... it was the throttle cables. Then I had a hard time unhooking them from the the levers. Got it though!
