Default HID users: bypass the starter-switch Headlight cutoff?

So I finally bought an HID kit for the bike. I've read somewhere that HID startup strains the ballast and with the CBR in OEM setup, when the engine starter switch is engaged, the headlights are automatically cut off, then allowed to startup again when the starter switch is released. in other words 2 headlight startup cycles for every start of the bike.

Any thoughts? any validity to this extra strain notion? anybody been running OEM electrical setup + HIDs and for how long? anybody work a starter switch cutoff bypass?

also, I haven't looked, but i'm sure there is a way to have the low beams still on when the high beams are on, so if anyone knows a quick way of doing that i'd be interested to know as well.

To keep the light on while the starter is engaged you want to connect the black/red wire to the white wire that go into the switch. The low beam should always be on with the highs. I had to run separate relays when I switched to a single round headlight with one bulb so the low would go off when the high comes on. Otherwise I would burn the bulb up fast.

Right after I posted this I realized that I never looked to see if all 3 were on when the Highs were engaged. Thanks for the clarification and thanks for the quick, simple answer!
