Default Gas Gauge not working/ unknown wire

I've been trying to get my gas gauge working for the f4i I just bought. I've yet to take the gas tank off but I cracked it up and took off all the fairing and I have no loose connections from the tank from what I can tell. No blown fuses either.

There is one thing though: I have no idea where this wire goes from under my seat. It's just a loose connection and have no idea what it does and was thinking somebody might be able to help me figure out what purpose it serves, also if it has anything to do with my gas gauge. I desperately need this gauge to work!!!

You don't have a gas gauge, not the way you're thinking. The bars on the display only turn on when you've run low on fuel and hit the reserve amount in the tank. When you hit the reserve, 4 bars appear and disappear 1 by 1 till you reach the pushing stage (out of gas).

As for the wire, we'd need pics of the entire area and the wire to tell what you're talking about.

There's one loose connector under the seat that's for diagnostics. You probably just found that. It's normal. Share the picture just in case, though.

And yeah, here's a quick blurb about the reserve fuel gauge: Where is my gas / fuel gauge? | Honda CBR 600 F4i Information
